Welcome my vintage and retro-loving friends to my Independence Day installment of Vintage Thingies Thursday, hosted by Suzanne at Colorado Lady. Wait until you see what she did with vintage buttons for Indepence Day!

I bought this great jeweled flag pin while junking in the fall of 2001, right after 9/11.I have a few vintage postcards that celebrate the United States and the Fourth of July specifically.Girl or boy? You decide. I love this lady’s dress! Is this kid’s head a little too big?

I hope these have inspired you to do a little decorating to make your holiday weekend extra special!

  1. I would soooo wear that dress, wouldn’t you?
And you’re right; what a large head that child has! You’re so funny Elizabeth 🙂
If I need to smile, I come here.

  2. I have a flag pin EXACTLY like that! I taught at American Senior High School, home of the Patriots, and our colors were red, white, and blue. We all wore those colors and flag pins every football game. LOL

    Oh, you’ve brought back memories.

I’ve moved into our apartment and have missed seeing you.

I love all of your old postcards! The last boy with the big head looks like a young Teddy Kennedy to me. The little drummer boy is adorable.

  4. As my daughter would say, “WOW!” Those postcards are great. The Betsy Ross one is my very favorite.

I love old postcards but I never ever ever ever ever find them. 🙁

  5. I love your postcard images and that pin is absolutely wonderful. Yes, you have inspired me. I want to make a pillow out of that boy in the four. Love it.
Happy 4th to you and yours. Take time to celebrate.
    Kindest thoughts,

  6. Your postcards are very cute!! They would make a terrific banner….

I purchased a flag pin like this for my mom at an estate sale, she likes all things patriotic and I found two great pins at an estate sale.

Very nice post today, Elizabeth for the 4th of July.

Have a great VTT and a wonderful holiday weekend.

  7. I love that pin so much! I’ve got a few vintage postcards, but nothing patriotic. I would love to find some one day, to decorate for the 4th. And yes, that boy has got one big head!

  8. Those are nice postcards. I have a lot of postcards but I never got around to collecting 4th of July ones–probably because they tend to be expensive and hard to find.
