Weekly Wrap Up 5/16

stacking the shelves sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @  Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news with a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. Stacking the Shelves is held at Tynga’s Reviews and is a place to share the books you’ve gotten in the last week.

I’m quite pleased with myself today, because I completed so many posts in advance as part of the Blogging Ahead Challenge with  Herding Cats & Burning Soup. After writing reviews for every ARC I’ve finished, I have complete posts for 4 out of 7  days a week through the second week of June! Weekly Wrap Ups obviously aren’t done, but I also have seven (!) discussion posts that I am saving as drafts for when I want to use them. If I get sick or get swept off my feet by a man who wants to fly me to Fiji, I’m all set!

My birthday was on Wednesday. I still round up to 50, and with having cancer off and mostly on for 12 years, I consider that a good thing. My niece was also inducted into the National Honor Society that evening, so it was a good day all around. This is a cartoon my mom included with my birthday card. She always sends ones that are perfect for the individual. baldo2

I’M A WINNER!

I won a great prize pack this week from Mama Vicky Says celebrating her seven month blogging anniversary: bath salts, soap, note card and Amazon GC. Vicki has great advice, recipes, and book reviews, of course. She even has a $25.00 eReader giveaway going on right now.

BOOKS FINISHED

  • The Truth According to Us by Annie Barrows (ARC) Loved it! Review to come.
  • The Kill Room by Jeffrey Deaver
  • The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn

REVIEWS POSTED

FROM THE LIBRARYblueprints

  • The Liar by Nora Roberts
  • The Black Box by Michael Connelly
  • The Mapmaker’s Children by Sarah McCoy

ARCs I NEED TO READ THIS MONTH – Only 1 left!

Blueprints by Barbara Delinsky  Then I can slow down to a couple a month. I foolishly got a little click-happy when I signed up for NetGalley, thinking I wouldn’t be approved for anything. Big mistake! Although I really like everything I’ve been reading, it starts to feel like school assignments, you know? I want to pick something from my personal TBR next.

READING AROUND THE BLOGOSPHERE

BLOGGER USERS: I visit almost every blog on this meme, but Blogger is giving me error messages when I try to leave comments. Even if you don’t have blogspot in the URL, it happens with blogs that have their own URL and are hosted on Blogger. Please don’t think that i have dropped you from my visiting routine. I have contacted them about the problem.

  1. Happy belated birthda! Posts scheduled for second week of June???!!! That is great! You definitely can use that prize to relax now after working so hard! Thanks for visiting my Sunday Post. Thanks for noticing The new social icons! I copied the by default images from the plugin I had installed, pasted them in PowerPoint, added a sketch effect and recolor them to match the background 🙂

  2. I’m sincerely impressed by your schedule-ahead prowess! I used to have about a 3-week cushion, but it went pfffft last fall when I was working on a lot of freelance projects in a row, and I have yet to build it back up. [sigh]

Incidentally, I have trouble with a few Blogger blogs, too – the ones that use some other commenting plugin where you have to sign in through WordPress or Intense Debate. Even though I have a WordPress.com account, I can’t comment on those blogs. It’s frustrating, because some are people I like to read frequently.

  4. Happy birthday!!!
It is amazing to me that have so many scheduled posts, I’m lucky if I manage to schedule one week ahead 🙂 Blueprints looks great, I really enjoy Delinsky’s books.

Happy belated birthday! I love the cartoon you got in your card, it made me giggle. I can’t believe how far ahead you’ve got with your post scheduling! I have a week off now and I’m hoping to get something similar done. Well done! Seriously, I’m literally shocked but you’re an inspiration to all of of want-to-be-organised bloggers, he he.
    Have a great week!

    • Don’t be too impressed. Remember, I don’t work and don’t have a family. I also have trouble getting out of the house, so if I’m sitting inside most of the day, I better be ahead on my blogging!

  6. Happy Birthday! Glad to hear that you’re so far ahead on scheduling post! I personally LOVE being ahead. This year has been different for me than the last two years. I’ve still been scheduled ahead, but I’ll have a few holes in my weeks here and there that I’d rather not have. Hope you enjoy your new books!

  9. Well done on the scheduling! And happy belated birthday! I round up to 50 as well… and once I hit that in 2.5 years, I’ll be rounding down!!!

I use WP but unfortunately can’t offer any advice. I had a similar issue with a footer once though and it was because the column was set at quite a narrow width (the footer column). I think I just reduced the font size or something!

    Have a great week!

  10. Happy belated birthday! Thank you for the kind words this morning. I pray that you live a long and prosperous life. Keep fighting like a champ. As for posts, you are doing better than me. LOL! I caught up with a few reviews this week, but I’m reading more and I can’t keep up right now. I think I’m behind by 6 reviews, 2 of them being ARCs. I’ll catch up eventually. Have a great weekend!

  11. I think your footer issue is because when you add widgets to the footer, everything defaults to a single widget instead of using up all the space like previously. I haven’t played around much with my footer area yet, but did a quick Google search and found this thread that looks like it might be helpful. Lots of ideas of how to tweak things anyhow.

  12. Wow , congrats on posting ahead! I try so hard to do the same. Let me know how you like Blueprints, I almost requested that on Net Galley (click happy) but did not , now I might just go over there and request it….:)
